This series was inspired by Antonisia's interest in all types of religion and philosophy, and was taken on location at a church in Essex.

As well as religion, she wanted to communicate the scientific fact behind what happened 2,000 years ago, which lies at the heart of the Christian faith. The twelve images of Christ’s last hours are powerful, portrayed as they are in black and white, with the use of paintography to communicate the redness of the blood.

Following the exhibition of this series in summer 2010, Antonisia donated the exhibit to Christ Church in Dartford, Kent (Cross Road, Dartford DA1 3ET).

Speaking before the show, Antonisia said: “A lot of thought has gone into the background to this project and it really does reflect me as a person, with my interests in religion, science and philosophy.

“The images paint a powerful picture, and what I wanted to show is that even after 2,000 years religion still plays such a large part in many people’s lives. I also wanted to show the beauty of culture and of sticking to one’s beliefs.”
