This is Jose Henriquez Gonzalez who Antonisia photographed during a speaking tour he conducted in the UK in 2011. He was known as the ‘pastor’ among the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for more than 10 weeks towards the end of 2010.

He was invited to the UK by the Christian Missionary Society (CMS), based in Oxford, for a speaking tour at churches around the country to talk about his experiences underground and how his faith kept him and his colleagues going through the challenges they faced. The tour was called ‘34’, as they all began to see God as the 34th person down that mine, getting them through each day.

Antonisia said: "I was pleased with how the shoot progressed. My fluency in Spanish obviously helped a lot during the shoot, as Mr Henriquez only speaks Spanish. This perhaps gave me an advantage over other media as I was immediately able to build a rapport with him and more easily ask him to take certain poses or act in a certain way, without having to go through an interpreter.

"Although Mr Henriquez is a fairly ‘new’ celebrity, it was still an interesting experience for me to take pictures of someone who achieved such global coverage as Mr Henriquez and his colleagues did last year. It brings closer to home how ‘famous’ people in many ways are just as ordinary as us."

A series of photographs of a very brave man who was the strength and support for a group of 33 miners stuck for ten weeks in a mine in Chile in late 2010
