A new fairytale for the modern day formed the basis for Southend on Sea Tales - an exhibition of art, painting, photography and sculpture first exhibited at the new Southend Pier Cultural Centre in Essex in 2012.

Southend on Sea Tales (and its follow-up Southend on Sea Tales Memories) were story books created by Antonisia, focused on the sea and its mythology and was especially combined with Southend and its connections to the sea.

It tells the story of the mythical ‘King of Southend on Sea’ Braz; his instant love for the beautiful Princess Diane and the terrible fate that befalls them both when the evil witch Bruxa comes to the town, intent on wreaking havoc on everyone that she meets. This is the first instalment of a fairy tale saga using the power of art and photography, being created by Antonisia.

The artwork and photography within the book tells the narrative of the story of ‘Southend on Sea Tales’, and is all produced by British/Brazilian art photographer Antonisia Schroder collaborating for the exhibition with Swiss/Brazilian artist Valquiria Imperiano.
