Antonisia took these two photographs having been inspired by a painting in the National Portrait Gallery of Sir Mike Jackson, the former general and Chief of Staff from the British Army, painted by Brendan Kelly.

Antonisia said: "I felt that what the General is all about could be reflected through a very military-style landscape – which I found at Tilbury Fort, in Essex. I felt that this image really captured the ‘life and death’ aspect of military action as well as the traditional English style that also embodies the portrait of Sir Mike Jackson.

"I recreated this image in paintography style, to reflect the fact that the original image was a painting and that making colours more vivid and striking gave it more emotion and passion – which is what fighting for one’s country is all about.

"There were symbolic reasons why I chose the colours that I did in the Tilbury Fort picture. The light green of the tree represented the Army and also represents life, while the red and black of the cannon represent death. In the life of a soldier, death is never far away and this cannon represents that side of military life in this photograph."
