The aim of this set of images, created as artworks from extreme digital manipulation of photographs, was to show in a conceptual visual way the power and strength of a mother caring for her offspring.

Antonisia said: "I took the inspiration for the look of this series from the way that hurricanes look on satellite imagery. The thought of a hurricane – a persevering, unrelenting buffeting of a coastline – was reminiscent for me of the way in which a mother never gives up on her children, no matter what they may have done and is symbolic of the power of that relationship."

The photographs were all originally of singular objects which lent themselves to being manipulated in this way to create these types of image. They were carefully chosen in terms of their colour and composition, and planned to fit in with each other. They were all photographed in a professional studio environment as well.

Antonisia added: "The fact that I have so many images is to symbolise the wide variety of different people that make up our vibrant and diverse society and to show both their differences and the similarities that hold them together as members of the same humanity."
