‘Hope’ is at centre of photographer’s double exhibition this summer
20 July 2013

Art photographer Antonisia Schroder has launched the first of two exhibitions she is displaying at venues in the borough of Barnet this summer.

Antonisia has organised the shows with the assistance of her family, despite being in hospital for the last five months, but the series that lies at the heart of her first show is entitled ‘Hope’, based around her faith and how important hope has been to her during her time in hospital.

She said: “Hope is a series based around the story of Christ’s death and resurrection, which as a Christian is very important to me and which has been so helpful to keep me focused during the last five months.

“The series ‘Hope’ is being displayed alongside some of my other ‘paintography’ work, which is all about bright colours and making the ordinary and everyday something amazing. What this time has taught me is the importance of hope and I would like to think that my work will also give hope to those that come to view it.”

In addition to ‘Hope’ and the paintography work, this exhibition also marks the first public showing of the groundbreaking montage photography from Antonisia’s latest published fairytale book, entitled Zonia…More than a Fairytale. Her other published books will also be on display at both exhibitions (all books can be purchased via the artist's bookstore at www.blurb.co.uk).

Antonisia was invited to run two exhibitions in the borough to run during concert recital season, following her successful show at Chipping Barnet Library last August.

The first of Antonisia’s shows is on now and runs until the end of July at All Saints Church, Oakleigh Road North in Whetstone. Her second show starts at St John the Baptist Church in Wood Street, Barnet, during the week commencing Monday 29 July and runs until 25 August.

Antonisia has run exhibitions across London and Essex as well as internationally, and has this year been nominated for a Brazilian International Press Award, recognising her Brazilian heritage and the influence it has on her work.
